Round Fairies

I had a really frustrating bead day yesterday. I ordered a bunch of different new glasses last week and started to play with it and found out a real cool color combo - but one of the glasses was obviously incompatible and all beads broke! So I tried to replace one color by another and made another test bead last night and that one is still alive. So I'll give it another try today.

And I have a new fairy on Etsy.

New Faces

Yesterday I made two new focals, faces again. A while ago I told you about one of my friends who is a great painter, maybe you remember. (Unfortunately she still has no online gallery). She loves to paint faces, especially of beautiful women, and since I know her art I'm really facinated by the idea of spending more time in doing something similar or just taking the idea of "face, lips and eyes" and transform it somehow into glass.
Another thing that I really like to do is painting/melting/creating eyes, because of the lashes (straight stringer application, fun to do) and the way you can add a dot to make it look funny, weird, sad or serious (when I teach classes and show how to make my Indian Elephant beads I always tell why the eye looks like it does and how tiny differences change the complete look of the elephant).
Anyhow, all those things have been in my mind this week when I took my scribble book and started drawing a bit to get new bead designs and I came up with those faces and thought, maybe it's funny, maybe it will look stupid - let's just give it a try. And I have to say I like it way more in glass than I thought I will, actually they are great fun to make and I love the contrast of the crazy and pithy eyes compared to the gentle twisties inside.


Right now the Etsy webside has a few problems, but later on I will upload these two funny guys to my shop, hope you enjoy. (Etsy's working again)

Twisty-Mania

I spent a whole day in doing twisties and two more in creating all those beads - and it was great fun. I didn't make those complexe twisties for while because it's really much work and you have to be in the right mood for it (as always). But right now it's so much fun for me and I'm gonna do some more today.

Help for Lauren

Yesterday I received an email by one of my customers, she was asking for permission to sell some of the beads she bought from me a while ago. The reason she has to sell her bead collection is that her little daughter Lauren is receiving weekly psychiatric therapy because she was abused by her stepbrother. Another bracelet - in jeansblue this time

A friend ordered one of my new bracelets and as she doesn't like to wear too colorful things she said: make that it fits to everything a little bit ;-) That's a funny wish, I heard those words so often when I made custom ordered jewelery a while ago, now I only do it for very good friends and only if I'm in the mood for it.
But this turned out to be a quite nice color combo (black, white and different blues) and can be worn to a lot of things, especially to jeans, so I made two of those, one for her, and one for my Etsy store.
