One look back, one look ahead

The last year went by so fast. In my memories faster than all the years before. I am so thankful for all the places I've seen and people I met and look forward to 2010.

I wish you all the best for the new year, love, health and that all your wishes come true.

Snow over night

As always when it's dark and cold outside I feel like using warm summer colors to light up my soul. It got so much colder the last few days, last night we got the first real snow. Hopefully it stays until christmas, we didn't have white christmas for a while I think... Have a nice day.

The days fly by

Do you feel the same? Somehow the days get really shorter, I don't manage to do all the things I planned for the day... I am busy with christmas shopping, sending letters and portcards to close friends and of course doing beads... and eating cookies and doing exercises afterwards :-)

3 Letters...

Last night I couldn't find sleep for hours and hours... also I'm back home in Germany since two weeks I'm still jetlagged.
But after I fell asleep I had a very interesting and nice dream of receiving three letters. I just read the first one, the half of the second one, but never had enough time in the dream to read the third one.

Receiving letters is such a fun thing. I already got so much surprises sent last week, and I sent letters back, propably that's why it is on my mind so much right now.

Cookies and Candles

My day started with the postman ringing at my door and bringing me a present from my friend Anna, who sent me some of her homemade chocolate cookies... (while I'm writing this I had already three of them...). Very yummy – and beautifully packed into a silver box and dark red paper. And this evening I enjoyed the cute little christmas market here in my town. It's so inspiring to see all the lights and candles shining in the dark.

I hope you had also a lovely day with nice little surprises...

Linda Womack

A few weeks ago my friend Marge Dillon took me to a nice little artist exhibition at the campus in Eugene, where different artists showed their work and gave tiny demos. One of those artists was Linda Womack from Portland. She does encaustic paintings and I was so fascinated by her pictures that I wanted to cry. (Weird behaviour, I know. When I was younger I even had to cry when I looked through housing & living magazine because I liked some things so much. Fortunately I have more selfcontrol now ... but Lindas paintings brought me very close to that point.). Enjoy the inspiration.

Cocoa – LA – Eugene

Just a few impressions from my last teaching trip through the US.
I started in Florida, the name of the place was Cocoa, about 45 minutes from Orlando airport.

We had all the time wonderful weather, except october 27th, the day the NASA wanted to shoot a rocket in the space. Me and some of my students got up very early to watch the rocket, because the studio where I was teaching was very close to Cape Canaveral with an amazing view to the space center. But because of too many clouds they canceled the start for this day.

The 28th was my birthday and Rocio and me went to the ocean, I got a day of from teaching. We went to the beach of Cape Canaveral and didn't even think about the rocket anymore. Until we saw all the people standing at the beach, looking into a certain direction... So it happend that we have arrived there just right in time (10 minutes before) to watche the start of the rocket at the beautiful beach of Cape Canaveral on my 33th birthday!

In the afternoon Ron, Rocio's husband, took me out for a private flight over Cocoa. An unforgetable moment. Thank you both for that great day!

After Florida I was teaching in LA at The Mandrel. I had so much fun with Donna, but I don't really have any pictures to show... sorry! One evening I went out for dinner with a friend, who was moving that weekend from Eugene to San Diego and stayed one night with friends in LA. And they had plans to go to a restaurant which was about 5 minutes footwalk away from my hotel - how fun is that! So I joined them one night and then travelled on to Eugene, Oregon.

The climate in Oregon is very similar to the weather we have here in Germany. So I went from the hot Florida to the nice California and to the cold and rainy Oregon.

I did not teach there this time, but spend some time with my friends and celebrated my first Thanksgiving ever.

Now I'm back in Germany since a few days. It's even colder here than in Oregon and of course I got sick on the plane again. Right now I'm fighting the flu or the cold and the jetlag (and the appetite for chips and sandwiches).

And I have a new auction on EBAY.
