Butterflies

When I was in Tucson at the Best Bead Show this Febuary I had the chance to take part at a "Beads of Courage" event and learned more about this project. Please check out their website for all details, this project is way to special and detailed, so I don't want to mess it up by trying to describe it with my own unperfect english.

What brought tears to our eyes that evening was the meaning of the butterfly beads they have in this project. Parents, who lost their child after a long fight against the cancer, get a butterfly bead, that their own kid chose for them when they knew that they won't be cured.

The most amazing butterfly beads I have ever seen are done my Margaret Zinser.

I guess many beadmakers tried to make butterflies once in their beadmaker career. I just checked through my old Flickr gallery and discovered that I made them too (I thought I never did): Butterfly sets, in the middle of the page.

It's always fun for myself to look through those old pictures, I am always surprised how many beads I already made. I started in 2003, which is nearly 7 years, but it feels more like two or three years. Time flies by so fast when you enjoy what you're doing.

Yellow

I just love yellow. I know, most people don't and it's a color where less of it is more. But it's a sunny, positive color and especially in combination with red and orange very feisty.

As you might have noticed I don't have many beads for sale these days, that's why I closed my Etsy shop until september. I am pretty much sold out and need to get back to the torch and work.

BBQ and pool

I had a fun weekend with my father and family, swimming in the pool, laying in the sun, doing bbq, talking the whole night with my sister and watching soccer.

Back from an amazing teaching trip @ RDC in Canada

Big horn sheep in wildlife
That's always my hope, to see some animals in wildlife when I'm travelling. This time I saw also an elch, but didn't catch him on camera.

The water was amazing green and blue.

It was usually raining during the week, but very nice and sunny on the weekends and I had a great hiking day with my student Deb (thank you again, it was so much fun.)

Hello, just a short update to let you know I am doing well. Canada is great, on saturday I have been hiking in the Rocky Mountains with one of my students and I saw an elch in wildlife and big horn sheeps. I will post pics after my return. The classes are going well here and it's fun staying at the campus. More soon.

Fun to make

Sometimes it's nice to just make beads, without
thinking to much about the design. The marble beads are so much fun to create especially as I never try to think to much about the colors I use, I try to keep it exciting for myself by letting things happen.
Marble set new on ETSY.
